Fun Concept but Final Product Doesn't Live Up to Promise
Forty Years is quite a milestone, and Hallmark celebrated their 40 years of Keepsakes ornament by hosting a special national event held in Kansas City. Those who registered to attend received a voucher to pick up a "goodie bag". This ornament was one of the special surprises in that goodie bag. It features some of the original yarn ornament designs from 1973 on a finial type ornament, with a little dangle at the bottom. The concept is a good one, and the sculpt looks like it was decent. Unfortunately, Hallmark chose to manufacture it out of "disaster plaster" aka a resin-like material that doesn't reveal many details in sculpting, and is apparently hard for the overseas manufacturer to do a clean job in painting. If you are an ornament addict who wants to complete a collection, then by all means buy this ornament - just be forewarned that it isn't up to the standards most collectors expect from Keepsakes.
