SOLID Sterling Silver
A simple, classic sterling silver bell with a gold wash on the inside was issued for more than 30 years starting in 1964.
Each year, the Bell is engraved with Christmas and the year date.
John-John for Halls of Kansas City sterling silver three dimensional bell ornament is dated 1975, and is one of the annual issues started in 1964. This is hallmarked on the top handle with JJ Sterling. This measures 2 1/2 inches tall and 2 1/2 inches wide at bell bottom, and weighs approximately 36 grams. Ornament is in good vintage condition, complete with clapper in the gold washed interior. There are no dings, dents or pings, but of course light scratches consistent with years of use and polishing
Prior to 1972, the Halls annual bell was produced by the Webster Silver Company. When Webster was sold and the John-John Company was established, they were contracted to produce the annual bells for Halls.James T. (Jake) Glisson and John Reynolds of John-John Enterprises (a division of J. T. Inman Silversmiths) joined forces in 1974 producing hand-cut, three-dimensional, sterling Christmas ornaments. They also made annual ornaments for Dayton Jewelers, Horchow and others.
