QX49G - The Holiday House Collection, By Ambassador
MINT IN NEARLY MINT BOX with Sample Stamps & Markings (see photos)
This RARE 1979 Ambassador Pink Panther Ornament is a Pre-Production shop sample with notations on the box regarding the color scheme to be used, with initials from supervisors etc.
While this and the 1981 ornament both feature an affable Pink Panther with outstretched arms with the words "Merry Christmas," this "test satin ball" has a different pose with the large 1979 date rather than that of the 1981.
THIS ornament was purchased from a former Hallmark Employee. The 1979 Pink Panther was issued as a low production Ambassador ornament and sold in Test Store Outlets in 1979. 1979 was the first year Hallmark TEST MARKETED ornaments under the Ambassador Brand, The Holiday House Collection name, and the few SKU's that were issued were low production.
Ambassador is a subsidiary of Hallmark Cards.
Approx 50 different Ambassador ornaments were available in 1979, 1980, 1981, and 1982.
The ornaments could be found in Woolworth's, Ben Franklin, Card Shops, Supermarkets and Drug Stores.
These ornaments are truly a rare find for the collector.
