These Hinged Magi Box Figures are VERY RARE. They were part of the personal collection of Hallmark Keepsake Artist LaDene Votruba (who was the artist for the 1996 ornaments)

It is not known how many were produced, this may have been for a test gift line set that was never sold. That stated, in our more than 25 years in business and in checking with other long time secondary market experts...THIS SET IS THE FIRST WE'VE SEEN, so it could very well be a one-of-a-kind set.

*These Hinged Box Figures are the same sculpt as the 1991 set of Rare Large 6" Magi Bells that are dated inside the bells. The large 6" Bells were produced in a very small production run that was sold in the Hallmark Employee Store.

*These hinged boxes may have been produced at the same factory, perhaps a gift line TEST item idea that was never produced. There are no markings on the bottom of the hinged figures which further lends to the theory that this was a test set that was never produced or marketed

In 1996 Hallmark mass produced The Magi Bells Collection as 3 1/2" Keepsake ornaments. The ornaments are similar but far less detailed from a scaled down version of the large bell and hinged box sculpt. The ornaments are a matte finish vs. the high gloss glaze on the boxes and the gold accents are more brilliant on the boxes. Ornaments are sold separately, shown in picture for comparison.
