In 1954, when the Department of Defense asked Marilyn Monroe if she would entertain the troops in Korea, Marilyn vowed to give those "kids in uniform fighting to save America" a show they'd never forget! Marilyn made a grand entrance-waving and blowing kisses as she dangled from a helicopter making a low sweep over the troops. She nearly caused the men to loose control when she sang "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend." Giving her all was not without personal sacrifice. Her performance in freezing temperatures wearing only a bare-shouldered dress left her with pneumonia. But Marilyn still considered entertaining the servicemen a high point in her life.
