These are not die-cast and the engine is totally out of scale to the passenger cars. Design, quality, and conductibility of the entire Hallmark/Lionel series started going down hill with this issue . Hallmark and Lionel should re-think future offerings and begin again with somewhat higher prices warranted by better quality and realism. Collectors will pay more for quality but won't buy 'junk'; which is what this, and most current offerings are.
